Abstract
The present investigation entitled "Effect of nitrogen and sulphur fertilization
on growth, yield and quality of Indian mustard (Brassica Juncea (L.) Czern and
Coss)" was conducted at Crop Research Centre of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel
University of Agriculture & Technology, Meerut during rabi season of 2004-05. The
experiment was laid of Factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three
replications. The experiment consisted of sixteen treatments with nitrogen and
sulphur combinations. Nitrogen levels were 0, 40, 80 and 120 Kg/ha and sulphur
levels were 0, 15, 30 and 45 Kg/ha. Objectives of the study were :
1. To study the effect of graded levels of nitrogen fertilization on the growth,
yield attributes, yield and quality of mustard.
2. To find out the effect of graded levels of sulphur fertilization on the growth,
yield attributes, yield and quality of mustard.
3. To observe the interaction effects of nitrogen and sulphur fertilization.
It may be concluded on the basis of experimental findings that the expression
of growth, productivity and quality parameters of mustard under the agro-climatic
conditions of western plain zone of U.P. can be enhanced by sulphur application at
the rate of 45 Kg/ha made in conjunction with 120 Kg/ha nitrogen.
