Abstract

A field experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of crop establishment techniques and different phosphorus fertilization levels on the perfonnance of mungbean (Vigna radiata L.) in sandy loam soil at Crop Research Centre ofSardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, Meerut (U.P.), during Kharif season 2010. The experirnent was laid out in factorial randomized block design with three replications. The experin1ent consists of fifteen treatments with combination of three crop establishment techniques (Raised bed, flat bed and zero till) and five phosphorus fertilization levels (PO kg ha·' ~ P60 kg ha- 1 , P30 kg ha·' +PSB, P45 kg ha·' +PSB, P60 kg ha·' +PSB). Mungbean genotype SML-668 used as seeding material. Recommended dose of N and K was applied in all treatments and all other cultural practices were same in all treatments. Among different crop establishment techniques raised bed techniques found superior than flat bed and zero till in terms of growth, development, yield and nutrient uptake. Application of P60 kg ha- 1 +PSB produce highest grain yield .. which was higher than other phosphorus fertilization level. Whereas, grain yield in P45 kg ha·' + PSB and P60 kg ha-1 treatment were statistically at par, which indicates that due to PSB inoculation 25 % P20 5 can be saved. On the basis of experiment results the expression of growth, yield and nutrient content of mung bean under the agro-climatic conditions of western plain zone of U. P. can be enhanced by adoption of raised bed crop establish1nent techniques with application of P60 kg ha·' +PSB.
