Abstract
The present study was conducted to evaluate the performance of different
Frieswal bulls or some seminal attributes like volume, concentration, live sperm
percent, progressive motility, HOST and to assess the microbial load in freshly
collected semen. A total 01 to 40 Frieswal bulls aged between 24-60 months were
used. Out of that, six bulls were evaluated for their semen quality and it was found
that the overall mean average of volume, concentration, live percent and
progressive motility was 5.60±0.16 (ml), 1076.1±32.56 (millionjml), 78,93±0.004
(percent) and 60.39±0.04 (percent), respectively. Statistical analysis shown highly
significant differences between the bulls. The mean of HOS positive spermatozoa
(percent) ranged were between 72.68±1.17 and 74.62±0.59 percent in the neat
semen. Frequency of different colored seminal ejaculates It was highest for creamy
colour 149 (82.3 per cent) followed by yellow 16 (8.8 per cent), cloudy 12 (6.6 per
cent) and watery colours 4 (2.2 per cent), respectively. The seminal ejaculates with
different densities or consistencies of semen were 55.80, 33.15 and 11.5 per cent as
thick, medium and thin, respectively. The seminal ejaculates with different densities
consistencies of semen were 55.80, 33.15 and 11.5 percent as thick, medium and
thin, respectively. The overall mean value of VAP, VSL, VCL, ALH, BCF, area of head
was found as 117.22± 2.15 Jlm/s, 74.1±1.04 Jlm/s, 217.19Jlm/s, 10.53±1.17 Jlm,
22.84±0.4 Hz and 13.75±0.29 11m sq. respectively. The microbial load in freshly
semen samples were ranged between 1555.56±306.31 and 3444.44±787.24 CFU/ml
with overall average ofCFU/ml2601.85±214.84.
