Abstract
A field experiment was conducted on tabie pea during Rabi season of 2011-12 ·in sandy loam
soil at Horticultural Research Centre of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture &
Technology, Meerut,(Uttar Pradesh),.The experiment was aimed to evaluate the effect of
different phosphorus fertilization on yield attributes and yield of table pea varieties in light
textured soil of western U.P. The experiment comprising twelve treatments was laid out in
I
Factorial Randomized Block Design with four replications. The treatments were Level of
Phosphmus consisted of 0 (control) Po: 3o P1; 60 P2; 90 P3 kg P20s/ha and three varieties (Pant
matar-2 {V1) , Azad Pea-1(V2) and Arkel (V3), respectively.
In different phosphorus levels treatments 60 kg P20 5/ha (P2) treatment was found most efficient
than other levels of phosphorus treatments in terms of increased the growth parameters, yield
attributes protein content, total sugar %,ascorbic acid and carbohydrate content of table pea
crop. Among the varieties Pant mater-2 performed better as compared to Azad Pea-1 and Arkel
with combinations of phosphorus fertilizer level applied in field crop of Pisum sativum to test its
importance in plant growth and productivity. There was excellent plant growth as well as yield in
table pea plants that received phosphorus as nutrient main nutrient supplier in field. So that the
proper level of phosphorus increases the budget of essential soil nutrients, which ultimately
promotes the plant growth and production at sustainable basis.
