Abstract
The present investigation entitled, "Response of different levels of nitrogen and spacing
on growth and yield of Garlic (Allium sativum !.)" was conducted at Horticultural Research
Center ofSardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture & Technology, Meerut during Rabi
season 2012-2013. The experiment was laid out of randomized block design (RBD) with three
replication. The experiment consisted of ten treatments viz. T r ( 40kg N+ 1 Ox5 cm/ha), T 2 ( 40kg
N+10x10 cm/ha), T3 (40kg N+20x10 cmlha), T4 (80kg N+10x5 cm/ha), Ts (80kg N+10x10
crnfha), ), T6 (80kg N+20x10 cmlha), T1 (120kg N+10x5 cmlha), ), Ts (120kg N+ 10x10cm/ha),
T9 (120kg N+20x10 crnfha), Tro (control).
Investigation were under taken to recorded the following :
(i) To Study the effect of nitrogen levels and spacing on growth and yield of garlic.
(ii) To work out the optimum doses of nitrogen levels and spacing on growth and yield of garlic.
The different levels of nitrogen and spacing treatment combinations was applied
in the field crop of garlic (Allium sativum L.) cv. Yamuna safed G- 1, to test its importance in
plant growth and productivity. From the above study it is concluded that the application of higher
dose of nitrogen and medium spacing treatment T 8 (120Kg N+ 1 Ox 10 cmlha) gave best result and
proved to be beneficial. On the basis of above investigation at the combination of higher dose of
nitrogen and medium spacing i.e. treatment T8 (120Kg N+10x10 cmlha) was recommended for
Rabi season arli~ cultivation under the condition of Western Plain Zone of Utter Pradesh.
