Abstract
The present investigation entitled "Effect of scion cultivars and time of grafting on
the success of epicotyl grafting in mango (Mangifera indica L.) under western Uttar
Pradesh condition", was conducted at Horticultural Research centre ofthe University during
20 I 3- I 4 under subtropical climatic conditions of western Uttar Pradesh. The experiment was
conducted using seven cultivars i.e. Dashehari, Amrapali, Bombay Green, Rataul, Ramkela,
Langra and Chausa in a Randomized Block Design with seven treatments and four
replications.
Based on the results obtained from the present investigation, it may be concluded that
the epicotyl grafting performed in August using scion cultivars 'Dashehari' had resulted in
earliest sprouting and maximum survival, vegetative growth, saleable plant per cent, root
growth and minimum mortality of grafts. The minimum survival of grafts was observed with
scion cultivar 'Chausa'. In view of above observations, Dashehari as scion cultivar was found
better over other cultivars for epicotyl grafting under western Uttar Pradesh conditions
