Abstract
Drugs from natural sources are used for treating various human and plant
disease. Present studies were carried out in Azadirachta indica and Withania
somnifera leaf. These medicinal plants have antimicrobial activity against bacterial
and fungal pathogen of human and plant diseases. The leaf extract of Azadirachta
indica and Withania somnifera were prepared in aqueous and 50%, 40%, and 30%
ethanolic, methanolic and acetone solution at 50mg/ml concentration for checking
antimicrobial activity against Aspergillus niger, Fusarium moniliforme, E. coli and
Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Ethanolic 50% extract of Withania somnifera was shown
maximum percent growth inhibition against Aspergillus niger (61.76%) and Fusarium
moniliforme (56.52%) then acetone, methanolic and aqueous extract. Azadirachta
indica 50% ethanolic extracts was observed maximum zone of inhibition against E.
coli (27.0mm) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (25.0mm) then methanolic, acetone and
aqueous extracts. The Phytochemical analysis of Azadirachta indica and Withania
somnifera was found to presence and absence of alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins,
phenolic compounds, terpenoids, glycosides, steroids and Saponins. 11hese
phytochemicals show the antimicrobial activity.
