Abstract
Thesis Title: Studies on effect of different substrates in the production of milky mushroom (Calocybe indica)
Milky mushroom (Calocybe indica) is one of the most important mushrooms commonly known as “Kuduk” but popularly known as “Dudhichhata”. It was first reported from India by Purkayastha and Chandra in 1974. The present investigation was carried out on “Studies on effect of different substrates in the production of milky mushroom (Calocybe indica)”. The result of present investigations on CI-22-09 and CI-22-10 of Calocybe indica showed fluffy, circular colonies having white colour with even margins. Fruiting bodies of Milky mushroom were observed as milky white in colour with long stipe in both strains (CI-22-09 and CI-22-10) while, stipe is bulbous at base in strain (CI-22-10).
Regarding the effect of different cereal media on mycelial growth maximum radial growth was found on Oat dextrose agar medium while, the minimum radial mycelial growth was recorded on PDA in both strains (CI-22-09 and CI-22-10) respectively Maximum dry matter weight was also observed on Oat dextrose broth while minimum dry matter weight were observed on Wheat dextrose broth. Regarding the Effect of different sugars mycelial growth, maximum radial growth was found in Sucrose @ 3.5% while, the minimum radial growth was recorded on PDA in both strains (CI-22-09 and CI-22-10) respectively. Similarly, maximum dry matter weight (2.60mg/50ml and 2.70 mg/50ml respectively) was also observed on Sucrose @3.5% while minimum dry matter weight was observed on PDB in CI-22-09 and CI-22-10 respectively. Regarding the effect of different cereal flour on spawn growth (mm) Calocybe indica. In both strain (CI-22-09 and CI-22-10), the maximum mycelial growth was observed in Rice flour@4% while minimum mycelial growth was observed in control. Regarding the effect of different sugar supplements on spawn growth (mm) of two strains (CI-22-09 and CI-22-10) of Calocybe indica. Maximum mycelial growth was observed in sucrose @3.5% while, the minimum mycelial growth was observed in lactose@3.5%.
Regarding the effect of different cereal flour on sporophore production, in both strains CI-22-09 and CI-22-10, maximum yield was observed in Maize flour@5%. While minimum yield was observed in Wheat straw only.
Regarding the experiment on the effect of different straw and their combination on sporophore yield, in both strains CI-22-09 and CI-22-09, maximum yield was observed in Rice straw+ Wheat straw (1:4), while the minimum yield was observed in Rice straw.
