Medicinal mushrooms have bioactive compounds with therapeutic properties. Lion’s Mane Mushroom is found throughout the northern hemisphere in Europe, Asia, and North America. The present investigation ware carried out on “Studies on effect of different additives on spawn production of Lion’s Mane mushroom (Hericium species)”. The results of present investigations on six strains showed that the circular colonies and sparse type margin, colony colour of Lion’s Mane mushroom was observed as white to creamy colour and fruiting bodies of Lion’s Mane mushroom are were compact, branched mass with long spines hanging down, fruiting body colour ranges from white to creamy, light yellowish coloured. Regarding PDA, maximum radial growth (90.00 mm) was found in strain He-02 with growth rate (6.00 mm/day) while minimum radial growth of the six strains of Lion’s Mane mushroom was found in strain He-04 (66.33 mm) with growth rate (4.22 mm/day). The weight of dried mycelium of all six strains of Hericium showed that maximum weight of dried mycelium (0.35 mg/50ml) was recorded in strain He-07 while minimum weight of dried mycelium (0.12 mg/50ml) was recorded in strain He-01.Among the three pH, 6.0 was found best for the radial growth of strains He-01 (78.33 mm), He-05 (71.66 mm) and He-04 (65.33 mm) and pH 6.5 was found better for the radial growth of strains He-02(88.66 mm), He-08(84.33 mm) and He-07 (78.00 mm) while the minimum radial growth of all strains was recorded at pH 7.0. For spawn improvement of six strains of Hericium, the rice flour mixed at rate of 2% in wheat grains, the maximum mycelial growth (90.00 mm) was found in He-02 while minimum mycelial growth of the Lion’s Mane mushroom were recorded in (76.00 mm) in strain He-05. In the pulses flour mixed at rate of 2% in wheat grains, the maximum mycelial growth (90.00 mm) was found in He-02 while minimum mycelial growth of the Lion’s Mane mushroom were (76.33 mm) was observed in strain He-07. In case of inorganic supplements that mixed in wheat grains, maximum mycelial growth (90.00 mm) was found in He-02 while minimum mycelial growth (67.00 mm) was observed in strain He-01.
