dc.description.abstractThe present study was pursued for the "Effect of cytokinin on callus formation in strawberry (Fragaria x ananassa Duch" with the objectivesas study the callus formation, shoot emergence and shoot lengtli with different doses of BAP, Kinetin and IBA were studied. Maximum callus fonnation in mature leaf explant (81%) was noted under the treatment of BAP 2mgr1combined with IBA I.Omgl-1• Maximum callus formation in young leaf (74.0%) was noted under the treatment of BAP 2mgr1combined with IBA l.Omgi- 1.Maximum callus induction in internode (47.6%) was noted under the treatment of BAP 2mgr•combined with IBA l.Omgl-1 • Highest number of shoots (14.00) from mature derived callus at four weeks after inoculation were noted under the treatment of BAP 2mgr 1combined with Kinetin 1.5mgl-1.Maximum number of shoots (22.66) at five weeks after inoculation were noted under the treatment of BAP 3mgr1combined with Kinetin 2mgl-1 .Maximum number of shoots (26.66) at six weeks after inoculation were noted under the treatment of BAP 3mgr1combined with Kinetin 2mgl-1.Maximum number of shoots (11.66) from young leaf derived callus of strawberry cv Chandler at four weeks after inoculation were noted under BAP 2mgr1combined with Kinetin 1.5mgl-1and BAP 3mgr1alone. Maximum shoots (21.00) at five weeks after inoculation were noted under the treatment of BAP 2mgr1combined with Kinetin 2mgl-1.Maximum shoots (25.66) at six weeks after inoculation were noted under the treatment of BAP 3mgr1 with Kinetin 2mgl-1 • The highest number of shoots ( l 0.33) from internode derived callus at four weeks after inoculation were noted with BAP 3mg1"1alone. Maximum shoots ( 18.00) at five weeks after inoculation were noted under the treatment of BAP 3mgr1combined with Kinetin 2.0mgr•. Maximum root formation (94.66%) was noted under the treatment of IBA 2.0mgr. Maximum number of roots/callus (20.00) was noted under the treatment of lBA2.0mgr•. Maximum length of root (4.30cm) was noted under the treatment of IBA2.0mgr•.viewing above observations it is concluded that BAP 2 mgr1+ IBA 1.5mgr• and Kinetin 1.5 mgr•+ IBA l.Omgr1 showed better performance on accordance of callus fonnation in mature leaf, young leaf as well as internode. BAP 2 mgr1+ Kinetin 2mgr1 showed better performance on accordance of sh t induction in mature leaf, young leaf as well as internode.IBA 2mgr• st for root initiation, number of roots/callus and length of root.
