Abstract

An investigation entitled "Effect of nitrogen, phosphorus and cutting management on seed yield of fenugreek (Trigonellafoenum-greacum L.)" was carried out at Horticulture Research Centre of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, Meerut during 2013-14 in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three replications to study the Effect of nitrogen, phosphorus and cutting management on seed yield of fenugreek. Different treatments viz. Nitrogen (0 kg, 20 kg and 40 kg), Phosphorus (0 kg, 30 kg, and 60 kg) and Cutting management (no cutting, one cutting and two cutting) were used during investigation. Different growth and flowering parameters i.e. plant height (em), number of green leaves and branches, length of longest branch (em), weight of biomass (g), dry matter accumulation (g), days to commencement of flowering and 75% flowering whereas, yield attributing parameters like fresh weight of greens (q p ha-1 ), days to visibility of pod formation, number of pod planf1 , weight of seed pod-1 and planf1 , test-weight(g) and seed yield (q ha'1 ) were observed various successive growth stages of crop and at harvest. Most of the parameters found significantly superior with 40 kg N, 60 kg P20s and one cutting management gave higher yield over control. Therefore, on the basis of present study it can be suggested that treatments (40 kg N, 60 kg P20s and one cutting management) may be recommended for better yield of fenugreek specially for Western U.P conditions.
