Morphological and physiological characters are the important attributes for a plant to determine stress level. They are the best indicators for drought, cold, salt and heat tolerance such as seed vigor, plant height, chlorophyll content, Stomatal conductance, flag leaf size, own size, grain size, yield and seed colour etc. It is clearly indicated with the present study that all the morphological and physiological traits showed continuous decreasing trend under moisture stress in compare to well irrigate conditions. Molecular analysis revealed that all the primers used in the study amplified a DNA approximately 1 00 bp in drought stress as well as unstressed condition with all 18 genotypes. It is considered as a consensus sequence of these genes with their respective primers which means that there is no genetic diversity in the genotypes where same size band was amplified. This suggests that well adapted cultivars may not differ much in their respective gene sequence. While on the other hand, non amplifying bands in rest of the genotypes indicated that these genotypes might possess entirely different genes which were not · picked up by these primers and had more conserved coding region. The present study will provide an insight for future research, which definitely will help to characterize these TFs for future crop modeling for drought with Indian wheat genotypes.
