dc.description.abstractAn attempt has been made during 2017-18 at Horticultural Research Centre of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, Meerut 250110 to study the effect of time and techniques of propagation on bud/graft success and quality parameters with a view to determine the appropriate time and suitable method of propagation in guava. In the experiment, performance of different methods (patch budding and wedge grafting ) and different time (first week of March and mid July) on propagation in guava and to see the comparison of patch budding and wedge grafting under open and protected condition in guava cv. Lalit were studied. During the investigation maximum survival per cent (82.30%) was recorded with patch budding performed in March under shade condition. wedge grafting recorded minimum number of days to bud sprout (13.86 days) whereas, patch budding had recorded maximum number of days to bud sprout (36.86 days). The sprouting percentage of budded or grafted plant was higher under shade condition than open condition. Based on result obtained in the present study, out of propagation techniques, patch budding was found to be better over wedge grafting in respect of survival per cent, sprouting per cent, Plant height, number of shoot and number of leaves.
