Abstract

A field experiment was conducted in urdbean during kharif season 2011 on sandy loam soil at Crop Research Centre, Chirodi of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture & Technology, Meerut (U.P.).The experiment was conducted in S.P.D with three replications comprising four main treatments and four sub treatment with sowing methods and weed management practices. The factor having four method of sowing (81 line sowing, S2 ridge method, 83 broad bed method and 84 broadcast sowing) and second factor having four methods of weed management practices (Wt weedy check, W2 two hand weeding, W3 pendimethalin @1.5 Kg a.i.lha and W4 quizalofop ethyle@ 50 g a.i.lha. Study revealed that broad bed method of sowing proved superior than rest of the methods. The maximum grain (10.95 q ha-1 ) and straw yield (19.33 q ha-1 ) were recorded in broad bed method followed by ridge method (10.44 and 18.49 q ha-1 ) and line sowing (9.73 q ha-1 ) the highest net return (38558 Rs. ha "1 ) was recorded in broad bed sowing as compared to other method of sowing. The lowest net return of (23609 Rs. ha-1 ) was recorded in broadcast sowing method. The highest B: C ratio of (2.56) was recorded in broad bed sowing as compared to other method of sowing. The lowest B: C ratio of(1.77) was recorded in broadcast sowing method. As far as weed management practices is concern, the chemical and mechanical methods of weed control were found superior over weedy check. The lowest weed population, lowest dry matter, highest weed control efficiency and highest grain yield (10.97) of were recorded in treated plot with application of quizalofop ethyle@ 50 gm a.ilha apply as post emergence and established its superiority over all the rest treatments similarly application of application of quizalofop ethyle @ 50 g a. ilha applied as post emergence had highest B: C ratio (3.09).
