dc.description.abstractThe present investigation comprised 36 genotypes of rice was carried out to analyze the genetic variability, heritability, genetic advance, correlation, path analysis and genetic divergence for ten quantitative traits. In the present study considerable variability was observed in the genotypes for all the characters studied. The genotypes with high mean values in desirable direction i.e., genotype IR-29 (80.33) showed early in flowering, the earliest maturity was shown by IR-28(119), Deepak ( 67.7) is the short statured variety, the panicle length is more for NDRK-5037(31.80cm), P.B-6 (21.33) is having more number of panicles, highest number of grains per panicle are present in NDRK-5088 (209), the highest test weight is for NDRK-5045(28.20). The highest value of biological yield per plant was estimated in CSR-13 (78.98), PANTH-10(58.75) recorded high value of harvest index and the maximum grain yield is from Type-3 (28.33). The estimates of PCV and GCV were high for characters viz., harvest index, grain yield per plant, no. of grains per panicle. Moderate PCV and moderate GCV were observed for plant height, length of panicle, no of grains per panicle, biological yield per plant. . High heritability coupled with high genetic advance observed for grain yield per plant, plant height, grains per panicle, biological yield. Hence direct selection of genotypes can be done through these characters for further improvement of genotypes of rice. It was observed that cluster IV consists of five genotype had recorded highest means values for most of the characters like days to 50% flowering, days to maturity, no of panicles per plant, harvest index, grain yield per plant. Hence selection of this genotype for immediate use may be beneficial.
