In the very h1st developing scenario ol biological science. the plant tissue cuhure has taken lead as the mo't promising areas of applicalion ol biotechnological tools for today ond tomorro1~ agriculture. Bnnnnn (Muso spp.) is one of the rno~t importnnt lruit crops worldwide, prov1ding sisniliconl nutritional and economic value. llowcvcr, its cullivation faces variou~ challenges, including susceptibility to diseases. limited genetic diversity, and difficulties in propagntion. Tissue culture. a powerful biotechnological tool. hos revolutionized the banana industl') by offering solutions to these problems. TI1e report delves into the key steps invol\'cd in banana tissue culture, indudmg C\plant ~election, surface stcrili1ation. C£tablishmcnt of aseptic cuhun:s. multiplication, rooting. and acclimatization of plantlcts. These techniques offer opportunities for the dc1clopment of disease- resistant cultil·nrs, improvement of fruit quality attributes. and increased tolcmnce to nbiotic stresses. Ovcmll, tl1 is report aims to provide a comprehensive overview of tissue culture techniques in bnnnna cuhivntion. exploring advancements. potcntinl applications. and the associated bcnelit~. f11c ropid production of high quality. disease free and unifom1 planting stook is only possible through micropropngotion. As Bannnn is an importnnt food crop and the second most important fruit crop aficr mango, a special account hns been taken into considcmtion to also put on record the steps involved in successful micropropagation of it. Despite the signilicant commercial \alue of the bannna crop. the main production constmint is the availabilit) of reliable and safe planting material. The planting materials obtained through con\cntional methods (suckers) do not meet the increasing demand for planting and they are of poor quality. Tis,uc culture is the approach which cnn solve these problems. ln the current project work, a micropropogation of banana variety vi~. Omnd nninc (09) was performed in totnll) controlled environment nnd produced good qunlity und good nmount of banana pl;mtlcts from obta ined cxplants. Keywords: Planl Tis~ue Culture. Oannna.
