A Study on Attitude and Constraints Faced by Girl Students in State Agriculture University of Uttar Pradesh

Abstract

This study was conducted in State Agricultural Universities of Uttar Pradesh i.e. S.V.P.U.A & T, Meerut and C.S.A.U.A & T, Kanpur were selected purposively. The data was collected from 80 undergraduate and postgraduate girl students with the help of structured interview schedule. The majority of respondents 56.25 per cent were belonging to the age group of 17 to 22 years. The majority of 70.00 per cent respondents were belonging to urban background. 56.25 per cent of respondents were from general caste. It was found that 58.00 per cent of respondents acquired 6.91 to 8.0 OGPA in their academics. However, in extra-curricular activities, at university level 40.00 per cent, respondents and at college level 46.25 per cent were engaged in NSS programme. But a majority 88.75 per cent of respondents did not engaged in NCC. A great majority 76.00 per cent and 63.75 per cent of respondents had graduation and above level of their mother‟s and father‟s education were graduate and post graduate. In library exposure, the majority of respondents 20.00 per cent were visiting there twice in a week, 56.25 per cent them spend 2 to 3 hours in library for study. More than half of the respondents 52.00 per cent had their family occupation as service. 72.50 per cent of the girl students were willing to serve in state government departments. The majority of respondents had a medium to high level of ICT exposure. However, in skills of computer operation, computer software skills and internet skills majority of respondents had average level of skills. It was found that the major constraints of respondents were financial problems and not interested for higher education.
