Abstract

Cellulose is the most plentiful macrobiotic compound on Earth, and it is a most Imp01tant constituent of plant cell walls. Cellulose is a renewable resource that can be used to generate a variety of products, including biofuels, bioplastics, and animal feed. on the other hand, the production of cellulose-based products is limited by the availability of cellulase enzymes, which are produced by microorganisms. The aim ofthis study was to isolate and characterize cellulose-producing microorganisms from Agriculture waste (Soil). Samples were collected from a range oflocations and they were screened for the presence of cellulase- producing microorganisms using a modified CMC (Carboxy Methyl cellulose) agar plate analysis. The isolates were then characterized using morphological, biochemical techniques. A total of3 isolates were spotted as cellulase producers. The isolates were Gram-positive, aerobic, and motile. They were also able to grow on a variety of media, including cellulose, starch, and glucose. The results of tlus study demonstrate that soil is a rich source of cellulose-producing microorganisms. The isolates identified in tills study could be used to produce cellulase enzymes for the production of cellulose-based products.
