Abstract
Oyster mushrooms are one of the most important edible mushrooms
after button mushroom. Oyster mushrooms are cultivated in limited scale and
contribute only 14.2 per cent of total annual production of world (Chang, 1999)
The present investigation ware carried out on "Studies on Spawn Production
Technology of Oyster Mushroom (Pieurotus djamor) JJ. The results of present
investigations showed that the circular colonies and even type margin, colony
colour of Pleurotus djamor was observed as white and fruiting bodies of P.
djamor are pleurotiod and eccentric. Pileus is pink coloured. Among the pH the
maximum radial growth was found at pH 7.5 (89.00 mm), while minimum radial
growth of the P. djamor was recorded at pH 6.9 (60.00 mm). Regarding
temperature, the maximum radial growth was recorded at 28°C (89.25 mm),
while minimum radial growth of the P. djamor was recorded at 23°C (54.00).
Among the media, maximum radial growtn was found on Oat agar medium
(88.33 mm), while minimum radial growth of the P. djamor was recorded on
Potato dextrose agar medium (65.67 mm). For spawn improvement, maximum
mycelial growth (98.33 mm) was found in Chickpea, while minimum mycelial
growth of the P. djamor was found in barley (50.33 mm),followed by Wheat
(52.33 mm). Among the different pulses flour mixed in grain, the maximum
n1ycelial growth (1 00.00 mm) was found in 2% Pigeon pea flour, while minimum
mycelial growth of the P. djamor were recorded in Black gram 1 °/o (75.00 mm),
followed by control (72.33 mm). Among the five sugars mixed in grain (1 .2°/o),
maximum mycelial growth (98.00 mm) was found in glucose, while minimum
mycelial growth of the P. djamor was recorded in starch (70.00 mm), followed
by control (59.33 mm). In different substrate, maximum yield (440.00g/Kg of dry
substrate) was recorded at wheat straw, wh::e minimum yield was in Pigeon pea
straw (380.00g/Kg of dry substrate). In different organic supplements in
substrate, maximum yield (593.33g/Kg of dry substrate) was observed in pige~n
pea flour, minimum yield was observed in control without any organ1c
supplements (410.00g/Kg of dry substrate). Among the sugars spawn,
maximum yield (613.33g/Kg of dry substrate) was observed in gluco~e spawn,
while minimum yield was recorded in control spawn (no sugars added 1n spawn)
(400.00g/Kg of dry substrate)
