Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during kharif season, 20 13 to study the Nutrient removal and yield ofurdbean (Vigna mungo L. Hepper) as influenced by sulphur and iron fertilization. Azad Urd -3 variety was sown on crop research center (CRC), Chirori at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, Meerut. The soil of experimental field was alkaline pH 8.2, EC 0.21 dS m·1, OC 0.47%, Available Nitrogen 151.20 kg ha-1, Available Phosphors 13.30 kg ha"1, Available Potassium 139.82 kg ha·1, Available Sulphur 8.3 kg ha"1 & Available Iron 12.5 mg kg"1 and sandy loam in texture. Nine treatments vio. T1 [Control (RDF-20:40:0 )], T2 (RDF +Sulphur 20 kg ha"1 ),T3 (RDF +Sulphur 40 kg ha-1 ),T4 (RDF +Fe 2.5 kg ha-1 ), Ts (RDF +Fe 5 kg ha·\ T6 (RDF + Sulphur 20 +Fe 2.5 kg ha·\ T1 (RDF +Sulphur 20 +Fe 5.0 kg ha·\ Ts (RDF + Sulphur 40 +Fe 2.5 kg ha-1) and T9 (RDF +Sulphur 40 +Fe 5.0 kg ha-1) were tested in RBD with three replications. The results revealed that plant height, number of branch per plant, number of nodules per plant, number of pods per plant and test weight were affected significantly by different Sulphur and Iron levels. Application of RDF along with Sulphur 40 kg ha·1 and Fe 2.5 kg ha-1 gave the maximum grain yield (10.83 q ha-1) which increased by 83.56% over control and all growth and yield parameters. Grain yield was positively related with number ofbranches, number of nodules, number of pods and test weight. The maximum uptake ofN, P, K, Sand Fe by urdbean grain and straw was recorded as 36.77 and 24.25 kg ha·1, 2. 77 and 2. 76 kg ha"1, 5.87 and 24.34 kg ha-1, 2.63 and 2.61 kg ha"1 162.79 and 714.76 g ha-1 respectively.
