| dc.description.abstract | Wheat is an important cereal crop of word including India. Drought stress has been found to be one of the major causes of reduced crop yield and great efforts have been made to breed drought tolerant crop varieties. In the present study we have used nineteen wheat genotypes of diverse genetic background including popular culti~ar of India. All the genotypes were screened for induced drought conditiens on the basis of morphological, physiological and molecular characterizations using drought specific SSR markers. On the basis of morphological and physiological traits it was observed that genotypes Raj 1555, DBW17, PBW226, VL 421, PDW 291 and WH1021 performed better for drought induced conditions. A total of fifteen SSR primers were used across nineteen wheat genotype for their characterization for drought induced conditions and it has been observed that genotypes belongs to two different gene pools and substantial ameunt genetic diversity present among them with a total of seven clusters. | |
