Thesis title: “Studies on efficacy of bio-pesticides and insecticides on incidence of yellow stem borer, Scirpophaga incertulas (Walker) and leaf folder, Cnaphalocrosis medinalis (Guenee) in Basmati rice’’ The present investigation entitled “Studies on efficacy of bio-pesticides and insecticides on incidence of yellow stem borer, Scirpophaga incertulas (Walker) and leaf folder, Cnaphalocrosis medinalis (Guenee) in Basmati rice” was conducted during Kharif 2023 at the crop research centre (CRC), S.V.P University of Agriculture & Technology, Meerut (U.P). Studies on the incidence of rice stem borer showed that the highest per cent dead hearts were observed during 37th standard week as (7.14 %) during vegetative growth phase and per cent white ears heads were observed highest during 40th standard week as (5.68 %) during reproductive growth phase of the crop. The incidence of leaf folder, Cnaphalocrosis medinalis showed that the per cent damage leaf were observed highest during 40th standard week as (8.80 %) during vegetative growth phase of the crop. Efficacy of different treatments viz, Cartap hydrochlorides 4 GR, Flubendiamide 39.35 SC, Neem oil, Metarhizium anisopliae (4.7x108 c.f.u/gm), Beauveria bassiana (2×108 spores/ml) and Bacillus thuringiensis were found statistically superior over untreated control in reducing the yellow stem borer and leaf folder infestation and increasing the yield. The most effective treatment in reducing the stem borer and leaf folder infestation were Cartap hydrochloride 4 GR @ 18.5 kg/ha and Beauveria bassiana (2×108 spores/ml) @ 2.5 kg /ha was found to be least effective treatment. The highest grain yield (46.10 q/ha) was obtained from Cartap hydrochloride 4 GR @ 18.5 kg/ha treated plot and highest cost benefit ratio (1:6.11) was also found in Cartap hydrochloride 4 GR @ 18.5 kg/ha. Among all the treatments, the lowest yield (39.50 q/ha) was obtained from Beauveria bassiana (2×108 spores/ml) @ 2.5 kg/ha treated plot and lowest cost benefit ratio was also obtained from Neem oil @ 3 lit/ha (1:1.01) treated plot.
