Abstract

An experimental was conducted at L.R.C, S.V.P Univerisity of Agricultur and Technology, Meerut on six sahiwal cows and Murrah buffaloes, three animals of each species given control diet and three was givan experimental diet to study the effect of diet and speies on daily milk yield, compositionin factorial experiment. The average daily milk yield (kg), fat %, protein o/o, lactose 0/o, S.N.F 0/o and o/o protein inmilk along with cv in percent in Sahiwal cows and Murrah buffaloes under control diet and experimental diet were found to be as 4.28(11.72), 5.14(9.76), 5.19(9. 76) and 5.42(9.26) kg milk,4.34(2.53), 5.96(1.84 ), 6.95(1.58) and 7.28(1.51) percent,3.68(4.61 ), 3.38(5.02), 4.57(3. 71) and 3.43(4.95) percent,4.97(3.42), 4.94(3.44), 5.62(3.02) and 5.32(3.19), percent 8.94(2.01 ),8.63(2.01 ), 1 0.87(1.65)and 9.64(1.86) percent 40.70 (11.37), 36.23 (12.77), 42.06 (11) and 37.42 (12.37) pe rce ntres pective ly. The factorial effect of diet and species were found on daily milk yield 0.545±0.40 and 0.591 ±0.40 kg, milk fat percent 0.97 and 1.96, milk protein percent 0.64 and 0.54, milk lactose percent 0.32 and 0.67, milk S.N.F. percent 0.76 and 1.47 and milk %protein -4.55 and 1.27 percent.respectively. The analysis of variance revealed that the fat 0/o, protein°/o, S.N.F.0/o and %protein of S.N.F. showed highly significant difference between control diet and experimental diet in both Sahiwal cows and Murrah bu~aloes the highly significant w~re observed between species (Murraha buffalo and Sahtwal cow) as far as fat, protein , lactose, S.N.F. percent are concerned. However, all traits except fat % showed nonsignificant differences i.e. due to interaction between species and diet.
