| dc.description.abstract | Thesis title: "Screening of rapeseed-mustard varieties (Brassica spp.) and evaluation of novel insecticides against mustard aphid Lipaphis erysimi (Kalt.) An examination was carried out to study the "Screening of rapeseed-mustard varieties (Brassica spp.) and evaluation of novel insecticides against mustard aphid Lipaphis erysimi (Kalt.)" in randomized block design with three replications at Crop Research Centre of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, Meerut during Rabi 2014-15. The aimed of screening to find out most tolerant variety against mustard aphid (L. erysimi) under field condition. The screening was done based on the parameters of aphid infestation index and aphid population count. The result revealed that differential reaction among varieties ranged from highly susceptible to highly tolerant. Among the twenty varieties tested, Pusa Jagnath and RLM-619 possessed highly tolerant and susceptible to mustard aphid. Evaluation of novel insecticides viz, imidadoprid, acephate, chlorpyriphos, fipronil, thiamethoxam, dimethoate, and pymetrozine, against L. erysimi revealed that all the treatments schedule proved better than control at all the time intervals after each spray. The thiamethoxam 25% WG @100 glha was found most effective treatment in reducing the aphids population followed by dimethoate 30% EC @ 1000 mllha. The pymetrozine 50 WG @ 250 glha was recorded less effective. Among insecticides imidadoprid 17.8 SL @ 150 mllha was found more effective than acephate 75 SP @ 500glha and fipronil 5 SC @ 1000 mllha. The higher yield was obtained from thiamethoxam 25% WG @100 g!ha with (17.15 qlha) whereas, highest cost benefit ratio is obtained from imidadoprid 17.8 SL@ 150 mllha | |
