Abstract

The present investigation “Effect of Planting Techniques, Fertilizer and Manure on Productivity, Profitability and Soil Organic Pools in Rice (Oryza sativa L.) under Rice-Wheat Cropping System in Inceptisol” was conducted at Crop Research Centre of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture & Technology, Meerut (U.P.) during kharif season of 2017-18. Experiment was conducted to assess different Planting Techniques, Fertilizer and Manure on Productivity, Profitability and Soil Organic Pools. It was laid out in split plot design with three replications. The main factor consisted of three planting techniques viz. (T1 - reduced tillage- transplanted rice (RT-TPR), T2 - furrow irrigated raised beds (FIRB), T3 - puddled - transplanted rice (CT-TPR)) and sub factor five nutrient management practices viz. (F1 – Control, F2 - RDF, F3 - 125% RDF, F4 -150% RDF and F5 - RDF+25 kg/ha ZnSO4) as subplot treatment. The soil of experimental site was low in organic carbon and nitrogen and medium in available phosphorus and available potassium and alkaline in reaction. The maximum values of growth characters and yield attributes (plant height, number of tiller, dry matter accumulation, number of panicle, panicle length, grain panicle-1 and test weight) was recorded in P3 (CT- TPR) treatment which remained at par with P2 (FIRB) treatment. Similarly, maximum grains & straw yield, nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium uptake and net return was noticed in this treatment. Among nutrient management treatments, the maximum values of growth characters (plant height, number of tiller and dry matter), yield attributes (number of panicle, panicle length, grains panicle-1 and test weight), grain and straw yield, nutrient uptake and net return were noticed with application of fertilizer as 125% RDF. Thus, it may be concluded that planting of rice crop in FIRB (Furrow irrigated raised bed) system along with application of nutrient as 125% RDF seems best combination for achieving higher yield, net return and improving soil health.
