A Study on Knowledge and Adoption Level of Bio-pesticides in Shamli District of Western Uttar Pradesh

Abstract

The present study was conducted during the year 2013-2014, in Shamli district of Western Uttar Pradesh. It was observed that 48.75 percent respondents were belonging to the middle age group. The majority of 63.75 percent belongs to OBC category, 35 percent respondents educated up to graduate level, 53.75 percent respondents living in jointly family system, 41.25 percent respondents belonging to large family size, 70.00 percent respondent having pacca house, 38.75 percent respondents participated one organization and 46.25 percent respondents were having medium land holding size. Most of the respondents were contacted early to information provider like VDO, kishan sahayak, Gram pradhan etc. The maximum 52.50 percent respondents were having knowledge regarding Trichoderma, 51.25 percent Neem oil and 45 percent Trichogramma. 45.00 percent respondents having some knowledge regarding Trichoderma application in wheat crop, 42.50 percent respondents were some knowledge in rice crop and 41.25 percent respondents were know everything in sugarcane crop. In case of Trichogramma the majority of 38.75 percent respondents were having some knowledge in sugarcane crop, 37.50 percent respondent in wheat crop and 36.25 percent respondents were known everything in rice crop. 45 percent respOJ?.dent were know everything· about neem oil in application of sugarcane crop, 43.75 percent having some known in wheat crop and 38.75 respondents were not having knowledge about neem oil in application of rice crop. The attitude of farmers regarding bio-pesticides, it's substitute of chemical pesticides, ranked in first and lowest ranked was found in use of bio-pesticides spoil and soil health. The respondents perception regarding adoption of bio-pesticides lack of technical guidance about use of bio-pesticides, which have higher score and constraints ranks in first and lowest was found of non-availability of bio- pesticides in local
