A field experiment was conducted in rice during kharif season 2007-08 on sandy loamy soil at Crop Research Center of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology Meerut The expenment aimed to evaluating the effect of sowmg methods and weed management practices on weeds and crop. In this investigation to factor studies were planned The factor havong three methods of sowing (S, line sowing, S2 broadcast in non-puddled. S3 broadcast in puddled) and the second factor havong, six methods of weed management practices (W1 weedy, W2 weed free, W3 pendimethahn@ 1.0 kg a.i/ha pre-emergence fb one hand weeding at 20-25 DAS, W4 pendomethahn @ 1.0 kg a.l./ha pre-emergence fb almix@ 4 g a.i/ha as post-emergence at, W5 Butachlor@ 1.5 kg a.o as pre-emergence fb one hand weeding at 20-25 DAS, W6 pendomethalin @ 1 0 kg a.i./ha preemergence fb almix@ 4 g a ilha as post-emergence) were tested m split plot desogn Study revealed that broadcast in puddled sowong method proved supenor over fine sowong followed by broadcast in non-puddled In respect of weed population, wed dry weoght, weed control efficiency, grain yield, straw yield, and boological yields The maximum grain (37 1 1q!ha) and straw yoeld (58.08 q/ha) were recorded in broadcast in puddled followed by lone sowing Which was 13 27 and 29.52% higher than line sowing and broadcast on non-puddled, respectively. In respect to nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium content and uptake broadcast in puddled sowing provided its superiority over line sowong and broadcast in non-puddled. The highest B: C ratiO of (1 85) was recorded in broadcast in puddled as compared to other methods of sowing. The lowest B:C ratiO of ( 1.38) was recorded in broadcast in non-puddled sowing method.
