Abstract
The present investigation entitled "Genetic Analysis of Yield and its
contributing components in Pea (Pisum sativum L.)" was conducted at
Horticultural Research Centre of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of
Agriculture & Technology, Meerut during summer season of Rabi 2008-09
and 2009-2010. The experimental material of the present investigation
comprising of 48 F1s along with 19 parents (16 lines and 3 testers) were
evaluated in a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three replications. Each
F1s were planted in two row and Parents in five rows. The length of the rows
was kept 3 meter and spacing between the row 30 em and plant to plant
distance was maintained 10 em by proper thinning. The border rows were
also planted to neutralize the border effect. Objectives of study were as
under:-
Objectives:
1. To study genetic variability, heritability and expected genetic advance
2. To estimate the general and specific combining ability
3. To estimate the heterosis over better parents and standard variety
Conclusion:
It is concluded that, most of the crosses exhibited superiority over
better parents or standard variety for seed yield also showed significant
heterosis for pods per plant, productive branches per plant and 100 seed
weight. Besides yield, considerable was also observed for other characters
but its d~ied.
