Abstract

Much attention has been focused on the study of lactoferrin at the nucleotide level in mice, human and cattle, but little is known about it in goat. The aim of the study is isolation of lactoferrin gene from goat (Capra hircus) milk by eDNA preparation from RNA and the lactoferrin gene is amplified by Polymerase Chain Reaction using lactoferrin gene specific primers designed by bioinformatics tools. This amplified gene is sequenced of length 2336 bp. Through phylogenetic analysis, the comparison of lactoferrin sequence of Capra hircus with other species revealed the highest 98% nucleotide sequence identity with Capra hircus lactoferrin (FM875929), 93.2% with Bas taurus lactoferrin (NM180998), 81% with Camelus dromadarius lactoferrin (AJ131674), 75.5% with Equus caballus lactoferrin (AJ010930) and 75.5% with Homo sapiens lactoferrin (M73700).
