Effect of Weed Control Treatments on Weeds and Yield of Urd Bean (Vigna Mungo L)

Abstract

A field experiment was conducted in Urd bean during kharif season 2011 on sandy loam soil at Crop Research Centre, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agricultur~ & Technology, Meerut (U.P.).The experiment was conducted in R.B.D with four replications comprising eleven treatments of weed management (weedy check, One hand weeding at 20 DAS, Two hand weeding at 20 and 40 DAS, quizalofop ethyl@ 50 g a .ijha at 20 DAS (POE), pendimethalin@ 1kg a.ijha PE, UDora@ 172g a.ijha at 20 DAS (PoE), U-Dora@ 245g a.ijha at 20 DAS (PoE), UDora@ 318g a.ijha at 20 DAS (POE), U-Dora@ 172g a.ijha at 30 DAS (POE)o, UDora@ 245g a.ijha at 30 DAS (POE), U-Dora@ 318g a.ijha at 30 DAS (POE). The results indicated that chemical methods of weed control significantly reduced the weed population and dry weight effectively over weedy check. The tallest plants, maximum number of root nodules/plant. highest no of branches, and weed control efficiency nutrient uptake by crop, protein and highest grain yield (10.90 qjha) were recorded with the application of U-Dora@ 245g a . i /ha at 30 DAS (PoE) and established its superiority over rest of the herbicides. Similarly, application of U-Dora@ 245 g a. i jha at 30 DAS (PoE) resulted into higher gross return, net return and with 2.44 B: C ratio. The total nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium uptake by Urd bean crop was also highest under this treatment as 57.74, 5.42 and 29.37 kg/ha, respectively. The values were very close to Two hand weeding at 20 and 40 DAS treatment.
