| dc.description.abstract | The simple sequence repeat (SSR) marker analysis was done to determine the allelic diversity and relationship among 32 rice genotypes. A total of 78 alleles were detected at . . the 19 SSR loci, of which 78 (1 OOo/o) were polymorphic. The number of alleles generated by each marker rar:lged from 1 to 9 with an average of 4.1 alleles per loci. The size of smallest and largest allele ranged from 1 (RM264) to 9 (RM47). The size difference for a given SSR locus varied from 20 to 100 bp. Maximum variations in allele size was observed with the RM 222 and RM 547 markers. SSR loci with greater size difference between the alleles would be relatively better for fingerprinting and diversity analysis. Null alleles were observed in respect of RM 19 and RM 21 with all of the genotypes. Multiple alleles were observed at 1 of the 19 loci analyzed . in varieties TWC and ACK 2. PIC values ranged between 0.775 (RM247) and 0.998 (RM544, RM561), with an average of 0.83 per marker.· Jaccard's similarity coefficients ranged from 0.65 to 0.97.
