dc.description.abstractAn investigation entitled "Screening of wheat genotypes for resistance and testing efficacy of powdered spices against Tribolium castaneum (Herbst.)" was· carried out in completely randomized design with three replications at laboratory, Department of Entomology in ·sardar Vallabhbhai Pmel University of Agriculture und Technology, Meerut-250 110, tl·om July 20 I j to Februa_ry 2014. During the experimental period, Twenty three wheat genotypes were screened f0r resistance against Tribolium castaneum (Herbst).At the end of experimental period maximum grain damage (120.33) and adult population deve!opment (20.67) was recorded.in genotype UP 2565 proving it to be the most susceptible genotype among e:~ll screened genotypes. Maximum frass weight (119.83 mg.) was recorded in genotype RAJ 3765. While PBW 58 proved to be the most resistant genotype as minimum nmhber of damaged grains (47.67) and frass weight (53.17 mg.) was recorded. Minimum adult population (33.33) was recorded in genotype PBW 468, which makes it also a resistant 'genotype. While all ~est of gen0types varied significantly in their reaction to test insect. In second experiment nine different spices were tested for efficacy against T. castaneum (IYernbst). Among nine spipes Black Pepper proved highly effective against test insect as it eaused maximum mortality (9.67) of test insect after tifteen days of insect relcns\! anGI also sl10wed highest germination percentage (95.67%) than rest other spices. While Ginger showed least germination percentc.ge (86.00%). Minimmn mortality (1.00) was col!nted in untreated control. ·
