Efficacy of New Herbicides in Trnsplanted Rice ( Oryza Sativa L.)

Abstract
A field experiment was conducted in rice during kharif season 2010-11 on sandy loam
soil at · Crop Research Centre, Chirauri of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of
Agriculture & Technology, Meerut (U.P.).The experiment was conducted in RB.D with three
replications comprising twelve treatments of weed management (weedy, weed free,
Bispyribac sodium@ 25 and 30 g a.i. /ha, Almix@ 4 and 5 g a.i. /ha, Azimsulfuron@ 30
and 40 g a.i. /ha, Pretilachlor@ 750 g a.i. /ha, Butachlor@ 1500 g a.i. /ha, Pyrazosulfuron@
20 g a.i. /ha and Fenoxaprop-p-ethyl@ 56.25 g a.i. /ha.
The results indicated that chemical methods of weed control significantly reduced the
weed population and dry weight effectively over weedy check. The tallest plants, maximum
number of shoots m·2 highest crop dry matter accumulation ~nd ·· weed control efficiency
nutrient uptake by crop, protein and highest grain yield (54.03 q/ha) were recorded with the
application ofBispyribac sodium@ 30 g a.i./ha and established its superiority over rest of the
herbicides. SimilarlY, application of Bispyribac sodium @ 30 g a.i./ha resulted into higher
gross return, net return and B: C ratio. The total nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium uptake
by rice crop was also highest under this treatment as 113.84, 33.35 and 133.82 kglha,
respectively. The values were very close to weed free treatment. The per cent increase in
grains and straw yield was to the tune of 54.11 and 23.12 as compared to weedy check.
