| dc.description.abstract | Trichoderma is an important genus of fungi which can be obtained from diverse habitats (anging from clifferent soil rypes and decomposing organic matters. These are cosmopolitan fungi having no tixed sexual stage and are easily culturable. Besides all other beneficial application of this genus, it possesses antagonistic activities and plant growth promoting activities. They may control other pathogenic fungi such as Fusarium by various mechanisms like mycoparasitism, antibiosis, and competition for space and resources etc. These functional abilities of this genus attract research activities tO find out new isolates and explore new tendencies of this genus keeping in view all these poin ts this research experiment is focused towards isolating different isolates of Trichoderma from Pabarsa. 10 samples were collected and processed, out of which 7 isolates confirmed the presence of Trichodem1a. These isolates were further characterized morphologically, physiologically (Growth Kinetics study), microscopically and confirmed the isolates to be Trichoderma. On the basis of the microscopic examination all of isolate showed to have highly branched conidiophores i.e., the main branches of the conidiopbores produce lateral side branches and conidial pigmenl of either white or bright green colour. Shape of conidia are varied from globose ellipsoidal. obovoidal, short, cylindrical, basal truncated to tapering type. Sinlilarly, size may also vary. Colonies ray grow slowly or rapidJy depending on specie and produce aerial mycelium showing dull yellow, reddish or no pigmentation. The antagonistic ability of three different Trichoderma spp., S 1. (A), SI. (B), and S21 against Fusarium spp., was tested using the dual culture approach on PDA medium. Morphologically the isolate Sl• (A), showed mycoparasitism in the beginning of interaction and hyper parasitism in later part. The other two isolates SI. (B) and S23 showed antagonistic activity. Colonies of isolate Fusarium spp. grew fast on PDA; lhe colony were fairly dense. pinkish and turned oft:white in older portions of the colony while, microscopically Microconidia were abundant and occurred singly with oval to obvate shapes. | |
