An investigation was carried out at Crop Research Centre of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture & Technology, Meerut (U.P.) during Kharif, 2018 entitled as “Bio efficacy of newer insecticides and bio pesticides for management of Brown Plant Hopper, Nilaparvata lugens (Stal.) of Basmati rice” in which nine treatment and three replications has been taken viz. Imidacloprid 17.8 SC @ 200 ml/ha, Thiamethoxam 25 WG @ 100 gm/ha, Fipronil 5 SC @ 1000 ml/ha, Cartap hydrochloride 4G @ 750 gm/ha, Lambda cyhalothrin 5 EC @ 500 ml/ha, Beauveria bassiana 2 x 109 c.f.u./gm @ 2.5 kg/ha, Metarhizium anisopliae 4.7 x 108 c.f.u./gm @ 2.5 kg/ha, Verticellium lacani 2 x 108 c.f.u./ml @ 2.5 ltr/ha and Untreated control. Observations recorded to the experimental field, revealed that BPH was low from the 31st to 35th Standard Week of the year and ranged between 0.78 to 4.64 BPH per hill where as maximum population was recorded 15.87 BPH per hill in the 38th Standard Week of year at the minimum temperature of 21.9 0C, Maximum temperature 35.1 0C, Min. R.H. 55.8%, Max. R.H. 93.2% and rainfall 13.0 mm. Mean population of BPH expressed positive correlation with minimum temperature (+0.019), maximum temperature (+0.117), minimum R.H. (+0.293), maximum R.H.(+0.165) and negatively correlate with rainfall (-0.245). All the treatments were found significantly superior over control, Imidacloprid 17.8 SC @ 200 ml/ha was found most effective. The next effective treatment was Fipronil 5 SC @ 1ltr/ha followed by Thiamethoxam 25% WG @ 100gm/ha, Cartap hydrochloride 4G @ 750 gm/ ha, Lambda cyhalothrin 5 EC @ 500 ml/ha, Metarhizium anisopliae 4.7 x 108 c.f.u./gm @ 2.5 kg/ha, Beauveria bassiana 2 x 109c.f.u./gm @ 2.5 kg/ha and Verticellium lacani 2 x 108 c.f.u./ml @ 2.5 ltr/ha. In case of Spider population, data revealed that Lambda cyhalothrin 5 EC @ 500 ml/ha was the highly effective for the spiders among all treatments followed by Fipronil 5 SC @ 1ltr/ha and Cartap hydrochloride 4G @ 750 gm/ha whereas all the bio- pesticides were safe for the spider. The maximum yield was obtained from the Fipronil 5 SC @ 1000 ml/ha treated plot (38.35q/ha) with 1:6.66 Cost:Benefit ratio followed by Imidacloprid 17.8 SC @ 200 ml/ha (37.26 q/ha) with 1:7.83 Cost:Benefit ratio, Thiamethoxam 25 WG @ 100 gm/ha (36.05 q/ha) with 1:7.59 C:B ratio.
