The present study entitled “Effect of chemical, wounding and rooting media treatments on rooting and growth of stem cutting in pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) under different growing conditions”, was conducted at Horticultural Research Centre (HRC) of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, during 2016 and 2017. The experiment was laid out using Factorial RBD with 10 chemical and mechanical treatments (i.e. control, IBA 1000 ppm, IBA 2000 ppm, IBA 1000 ppm + Boric Acid 1%, IBA 2000 ppm + Boric Acid 1%, Wounding, IBA 1000 ppm + Wounding, IBA 2000 ppm + Wounding, IBA 1000 ppm + Boric Acid 1% + Wounding, IBA 2000 ppm + Boric Acid 1% + Wounding), three rooting media and two growing conditions. The stem cuttings when treated with IBA 2000 ppm + Boric acid 1% + Wounding and grown in Soil + Sand + Vermi-compost rooting medium had recorded significantly earliest sprouting and highest survival, shoot and root growth of stem cutting under shade. However, among the chemical and mechanical treatments applied to stem cuttings, poor survival, shoot and root growth of stem cutting were observed with wounding cuttings grown in Soil + Sawdust + Vermi-compost in open condition. Among the rooting media and growing condition, the Soil + Sand + Vermi-compost and shade condition exhibited profound effects on the performance of stem cutting.
