A field experiment was conducted in rice during kharif 2015 on sandy loam soil at Crop Research Centre Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture & Technology, Meerut (U.P). The experiment was conducted in R.B.D with three replications comprising thirteen treatments of weed management (weedy check, Hand weeding (2), Farmer Practice(!), Pendimethalin@lkg a.iha-1 , Bispyribac sodium@20g a.iha-1 , Bispyribac sodium@25g a.iha-1 , Bispyribac sodium@30g a.iha-1 , Oxidiargyl@75g a.iha-1 , Oxidiargyl@l OOg a :na-1 , Oxidiargyl@ 125g a.iha-1 , Ethoxy Sulfuron@15g a.iha-1 , Ethoxy Sulfuron@20ga.i ha-1 , Ethoxy Sulfuron@25g a.iha-1 ). Over 2 billion people in Asia alone derive 80% .. ftheir energy needs from rice, which contains 80% Carbohydrates, 7-8% protein, 3% fat and 3% fiber. U~1til recently, rice was considered only a starch food and a source of carbohydrates and so~ne amount of protein. • The results indicated the chemical methods of weed control significantly reduced the weed population and dry weight effectively over weedy check. The tallest plants, higher number of tillers (m-2), highest dry matter accumulation, weed contrC'l efficiency, nutrient uptake and grain yield ( 46.60 q ha-1), were recorded with the application of Bispyribac soJium @ 25g a.i.ha-1 which established Irs superiority over rest of the herbicides. The total nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium uptake by rice crop was also highest (82.40, 14.1 0, 9.30 kg ha- with the application of Bispyribac sodium @ 25g a.i.ha-1 and 116.74 and 95.05 per cent increase in grains and straw yield was as compared to weedy check in rice crop. The application of Bispyribac sodium @ 25g a.i.ha-1 resulted in to higher gross return, net return and B: C ratio. Thus the application of Bispyribac sodium @ 25g a.i.ha- found better for sustainability of rice crop yield .
