Abstract
Thesis Title: “A study on ripening behaviour and post-harvest life of mango (Mangifera indica L.) cv. Pusa Arunima”
The present investigation was carried out at Post harvest Laboratory, Department of Horticulture, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, Modipuram, Meerut to study the “A study on ripening behaviour and post-harvest life of mango(Mangifera indica L.) cv. Pusa Arunima.” The experiment was conducted in a Completely Randomized Design with 12 treatments viz. T0 – Ethrel 500 ppm, T1-Ethrel 750 ppm, T2- Ethrel 1000 ppm, T3- CaNO3 1.5%, T4- CaNO3 2%,
T5-CaNO3 2.5%, T6- Egg albumin 5%, T7-Egg albumin 10%, T8- Egg albumin 15%, T9- Pedicellate fruits, T10- CaNO3 1.5% + Egg albumin 5% and T11- Control and their 3 replications, during the year 2022. Ethrel 500 ppm treated fruits showed the better results followed by Ethrel 750 ppm. The pedicellate fruits were also found to be significantly superior treatments over the control in respect of storage quality and shelf- life. Based on results obtained in the present study, it can be concluded that Ethrel 750 ppm was found to be the most appropriate treatment in mango cv. Pusa Arunima on account of better ripening behaviour. Therefore, Ethrel 500 ppm can be adopted with great success in mango cv. Pusa Arunima for physico-chemical traits, storage, quality and shelf-life on commercial scale.
