Abstract

The experiment was carried out at Farm Machinery Workshop, College of Technology, SVPUA&T, Meerut, for testing and performance evaluation of VST Shakti 130 DI power tiller. The different types of tests like checking of specifications, turning ability test, parking brake test, air-cleaner oil pull-over test, field performance test were carried out. It was observed from the data that all specifications were found within specific limit provided by the manufacturer, except the slight variation in the dimensions. The values for minimum turning diameter for right and left hand sides were found as 1.0583 m and 0.8424 m respectively. Also, during parking brake test there was no any kind of rolling of wheels observed. It was also observed that there was no oil loss during the air-cleaner pull-over test. The power tiller also tested for field performance and it was found that there was 12.5 % reduction in the bulk density after tillage operation and value of field efficiency was found within specific limit that is 86.83 %. There was less fuel consumption observed, which is 0.55 ltr/hr. Hence, it was concluded from all the observation that VST Shakti 130 DI power tiller tested at Farm Machinery Workshop, College of Technology, SVPUA&T, Meerut was found to be satisfactory in all the above mentioned test, except that the little variation in the dimensions. The field performance of the machine was also satisfactory. It is also recommended that there should be further testing of power tiller for remaining test.
