Abstract
The experiment was conducted at agricultural farm of Sardar Yallabh Bhai Patel University of
Agriculture and Technology, Modipuram, Meerut to determine the cost economics of various tillage
practices.
The different tillage treatments T1 [Disc plough(!) +Disc harrow(!)), T2 [Cultivator
(I)+Rotavator (1)] and T3 [ Rotavator (2)] were selected and conducted experiment by replicating the
each treatments three times. The total area of 3366 m2 were selected which was further divided in to nine
sub block each of size 15 mx20 m (300m2).
The fixed and variable cost was calculated (Rs/hr) for each implements operating with tractor.
Also. the total cost was determined by adding fixed and variable cost (Rs/hr) for each implement. It was
found that the maximum cost of tillage (Rs/hr) for treatment T2 (1916.9125Rs/hr) followed by
T 1 ( 1870.065 Rs/hr) and T 3 (985.45 Rs/hr) which is due to the high initial cost of disc plough and tractor.
Hence, it is suggested that as per the need of tillage depend soil condition the farmers may
consider any one of the treatment according to budget and requirement of tillage
