| dc.description.abstract | Thesis Title: Studies on production technology and casing quality of milky mushroom (Ca/ocybe indica) Milky mushroom is one of the most important edible mushroom after button and oyster mushroom grown in India commonly called as "Kuduk" or "Dudhi chhata". It was first reported from India by Purkayastha and Chandra in 1974. Five strains of Ca/ocybe indica viz., Cl-5, Cl-10, Cl-14, Cl-15 and APK-2 were observed for variability in terms of colony characters, cultural characters and yield performance. Fluffy growth appeared in the colony of strain APK-2, Cl-5, and Cl-15. The colony colour of strains Cl-5, Cl-10 and Cl-15 were observed as white. The average pileus breadth, stipe length and pileus weight was observed in strain Cl-6 (5.93 em, 8.90 em & 29.17 g/FB) respectively. At 31 °C temperature strain APK-2 and at 7.5 pH strain Cl-14 showed maximum (9.00 em) radial growth. Maximum radial growth was recorded in glucose sugar solution and fructose showed dry matter weight in strain APK-2 (9.00&1.82mg) and among the media and chemicals MEA medium showed maximum radial growth (9.00 em) from strain APK-2 and calcium carbonate (8.97 em) recorded. In case of spawn, full growth of strains APK-2 and Cl-14 was found in calcium carbonate 0.35% + calcium sulphate 1.1% (1 0.00cm&9.96cm) in spawn bottle. Maximum yield was recorded from two strains with casing thickness 1.55 em APK-2 and Cl- 14 (537.76 and 523.00 g/kg of dry substrate with 53.76 and 52.30% B.E.). Maximum yield (490.00 and 544.67 g/kg of dry substrate) on pea powder and lentil powdered casing supplemented observed in strain APK-2 and Cl-14, respectively. Maximum yield was harvested from the two strains Cl-14 (539.67 g/kg of dry substrate) with fym+gs+sand and APK-2 (553.33 g/kg of dry substrate) with fym+gs+vc respectively. Maximum yield was harvested at 30cm bed height in strain APK-2 (375.67 g/kg of dry substrate with 53.67% B.E.). Maximum yield was harvested with 5.5% spawn rate with strain APK-2 and Cl-14 (505.00 and 520.67 g/kg of dry substrate with 50.50% and 52.06% B.E.). | |
