Objectives:
• To study the background characteristics of mango orchardists.
• To find out the knowledge level of mango orchardists in relation to package of practices
of mango production technology.
• To study the adoption behaviour with respect to package of practices of mango
production technology.
• To study the constraints of mango orchardists and suggest suitable measures for
improvement.
The present study was conducted in Saharanpur district of western Uttar Pradesh
during the year 2010-11. District Saharanpur was selected purposively because the area under
mango cultivation is more in the district in comparison to other district of this region. There are

purposively selected. From each block four villages were purposively selected. The total
numbers of villages were 8 for this investigation. Ten respondents from each village were
selected purposively. Thus the total sample size was of the 80 respondents for the investigation.
To know the back ground characteristics, knowledge level, adoption level, and
constraints of the mango orchardists. Most of the orchardists were backward caste, they
belonging to 30 - 45 years age group, their education level up to intermediate. They were living
jointly with large family. Most of the orchardists were having puccka house, medium farm

pest management in orchard. Most of the mango orchardists were fully adopted the grading and
packing practices in post harvesting technology and 1 00 per cent mango orchardists were fully
