A Study on Awareness and Impact of Kisan Credit Card Scheme Among the Farmers of Hapur District

Abstract

This study was conducted in Hapur district of Western Uttar Pradesh which was selected purposively. The data was collected from 120 Farmers with the help of structured interview schedule.The study revealed that, majority of the respondents (47.50%) were found in the middle age group i.e. 31-50 years. The majority of the respondents (48.33%) belonged to General caste, (91.67%) respondents were found to be literate. The majority of respondents (78.33%) were living in joint family and majority of respondents (52.50%) were observed having above 06 members. the majority of respondents (98.33%) were having pakka house and majority of respondents (54.17%) were having up to 1 ha of land which comes under marginal famer’s category and majority of them (97.5%) were in agriculture. The most of the respondents were having basic needs of life that is gas connection (Gas stove/Gas cylinder) for making food and hand pump or electric hand pump for water etc. and the most of the respondents were hiring private electric tube well as an irrigation source. The majorities of respondents were having cycle (96.67 per cent) and followed by Motorcycle/Scooty/Scooter (60.00 per cent) as a transport facility. The majority of respondents were having source of information always from Agricultural Cooperative Bank (56.67 per cent), Newspaper Neighbour (49.17 per cent) and having one membership of social organization (55.00 per cent). The most of the respondents (53.33 per cent) were earning annual income between Rs. 1, 00,000 – 2, 00,000 per annum. The majority of respondents (63.34 per cent) were having medium socio economic status. The majority of respondents (54.17%) were having medium level of knowledge regarding KCC scheme. The majority of respondents after utilization of KCC were done increment in livestock production (72.5%), annual income (71.67%) and majority of respondents growing of wheat crop (100%). The major constraint was as majority of respondents were having problems Lack of knowledge about the banking system (77.50%), High interest rate in delay repayment of credit (85.00%), Lack of communication between beneficiaries and officers (65.00%) Difficulty and High Charges for opening the account of KCC (75.83%) got ranked first in technical constraints, economical constraints, economical constraints, In General constraints respectively.
