| dc.description.abstract | Thesis Title- Milk Supply and its Utilization Pattern in Ballia City. India is largest producer of milk in the world, is set to produce over 133 million tone milk during 2012-13. Several measures have been initiated by the Government to increase the productivity of milch animals, which has resulted in increasing the milk production significantly from the level of 102.6 million tmmes at the end of the Tenth Plan (2006-07) to 127.9 million tonnes at the end of the Eleventh Plan (2011-12) and availability of milk showed 260-290 g per day per capita. and annual growth rate for production of milk is about 5% in 20 I I -12 compared to 20 I 0-11. Ballia City was divided into 5 zones like Central, Eastern, Western, Northern and Southern Zones. Total milk supply in Ballia City was estimated 1,04,919 liters per day; in which organized sectors were contributed 54,700 liters per day which accounted of total milk supply is 52 per cent. Whereas unorganized sectors were contributed about 50,219 as milk supply and accounted approximately 48.00 per cent. Total utilization of milk was accounted 89 per cent as fluid milk and rest accounted about 11.00 per cent of milk consumed as various milk products manufacture. Milk Products such as dahi, tea, sweetened milk, khoa, paneer, ghee/butter, chhana, ice-cream and kulfi, which accounted were 2.7, 0.7, 0.4, 0.6, 1.6, 1.6, 0.9, 1.5 & 0.9 per cent, respectively, and per capita availability of milk analyzed 200 grams per day. | |
