Abstract
An experiment was conducted to study the effect of Bio-fertilizers
and Vermicompost on performance of Urd bean in sandy loam soil during
Kharif 2007. Nine different treatments were replicated thrice in a
randomized block design. The soil of experimental site was low in organic
carbon and medium in available phosphorus and potassium.
Treatments were T1 i.e. control, T2 i.e. recommended NP, T3 i.e. Y.
N+ Full P + Rhizobium, T4 i.e. Full N+ Y. P+ PSB, Ts i.e. Y. N+ Y. P+
Rhizobium+ PSB, T6 i.e. Vermicompost@ 1 t ha-', T7 i.e. Vermicompost
@ 1 t ha-1+ Rhizobium, T8 i.e. Vermicompost@ 1 t ha-1 + PSB, Tg i.e.
Vermicompost @ 1 t ha'1 + Rhizobium + PSB. Significantly lower grain
yield, effective nodules NPK content in plant sample were obtained with T1
treatment where no fertilizer was applied. The treatment where Y. N+ Y.
P+ Rhizobium+ PSB produce significantly the highest grain and straw
yield and increases available NPK in soil and it was statistically at par with
the treatments where T3 i.e. % N+ Full P + Rhizobium, and it was also at
par with T9 i.e. Vermicompost @ 1 ton ha-1 + Rhizobium+ PSB applied
and significantly superior over rest of the treatments. From the above
study it also seems that application of half dose of recommended N P,
Rhizobium and PSB improved grain yield and NPK content in soil in
comparison to control. The chemical properties of soil in the rest of the
treatments improved slightly.
